Anyone know any good alloy wheel refurbers (up NorthWest preferably). Need powdercoating but my local garage wont touch splitrims as they cant guarantee the seal afterwards. :(
Cheers

split rims are bastrards to do not many people will touch them. I know of one company called phat wheels or have done a few rims for the boys on the www.e36coupe.com club there not cheap though i think they charge around 90 quid per alloy the 328i sport comes with the bbs split rims so they have refurbed quite a few of those not sure if it helps but might be worth ringing them becuase they may know of a place near you

Do you have a torque wrench?
If so, split the rims yourself and just send off the parts you need powdercoating. When you get the pieces back, put it all together yourself and with the torque wrench, you will have even distribution of tightness across the face of the rim. I know a couple of people who have done this with no problems.

Yeah got a torque wrench. What about sealing them though, theres a silcone bead on the inside of the rim, wouldnt trust myself doing that........

Lee PM Ali..go to that place in Wolverhampton that did his rims...They are meant to be good!
I think that is A1 Wheels on the Bilston Road in Wolverhampton. They are supposed to have quite a good reputation. Have not used them myself (yet!) but I will be getting a quote off them soon though.
yep ali and myself went to that place in Wolverhampton - it's like a little shed, but the job they did was really amazing!
And i know for a fact they do split rims as they did his and even cleaned every single bolt!

dude i'll get the number of phat wheels but there based in kent, doing them yourself is a bit of a no no i'd leave it to the experts messing around with split rims is no joke and even you snap a bolt then you may have a headache getting another one for example the 17" bbs splits that the e36 328 came with are bastards to get hold of at least if a company does it its there problem not yours but if your feeling brave then......but TBH having a go yourself is bad advice

I have used Phat wheels myself for my other halfs Polo Gti BBS's. They did a pretty good job. They are based on the Isle of Sheppey. Here you go:
Tel: 01795 585111
They usually leave the car on axle stands at your house whilst the wheels are being done.

Only need to break the seal if i was to get the steel lip polished but they dont really need it.

Just for the record, that place in wolves, A1 is supposed to be excellent! I spoke to someone in the trade and he said they are the only decent place in the UK that he would trust to refurb Splittys.
Thats where I would take my split rims (if I had any!)
