Looking at upgrading my business spec headunit to a wide screen headunit. Partnumber: 65.52-6 934 410. Is this a straight swap once I've moved the heater controls? What can this unit be used to control? Can an external DVD player/playstation plug straight in? Probably put this post in the wrong place, but any hlp would be really appreciated.

Yes, the monitor is only one of the components. You need a new radio tuner (around £200 on ebay), a navigation processor (£150-£380), a new loom (£120), centre console skeleton (£40), TV tuner if you want TV function (£250) and various bits like GPS wire etc. All in the entire cost of the retrofit will come up to £1500+

It's not as expensive as people think, it cost me 800 quid to do it with a mk3 computer, and about a days work to fit it (as well as bluetooth). It's not a hard job at all just a time consuming one.

Just completed the TV retrofit as well so I can fit my old xbox in the car. :D

These are the parts I used for the nav retrofit, along with cost:

Also on the site is the BMW pdf so you can see how hard (easy?) the job is.

I've now got DAB radio, USB memory card reader, ipod control, MP3 changer, bluetooth, navigation and TV all coming out of the OEM kit and the ability to add any new Alpine ainet gear to it in the future.

Don't forget the kitchen sink...;) :D

For around £800 notes i would consider it, instructions on the install don't look all that easy - removing rear bumper and shocks, for nav?!?!?!? Think I'll have a look around ebay for some parts and see what happens after all.

Make sure you get parts that are compatible with each other. BMW change their specs so often. Certain radio tuners will only work with certain generations of navigation, and vice versa. Also make sure you get the correct loom, ie. HK, BMW Hi-Fi, TV tuner loom or standard loom. If you buy the entire retrofit package as a whole then it will take this concern away.

PM Doc Matt, he used someone a while ago, that offered a total install for £1200 or so, that included parts and labour

That gives me plenty to think about, think OEM looks better than aftermarket.
