Fronthead rests in the drop

Right my rear screns are here so i wanna fit them, but how do the front headrests in the drop top come out i don't wanna yank anything out. They go up with the electric seat adjustment so what do i have to undo worst case is i'll fit the screens with the headrests in no big deal its just easier with the headrests out.

Also what size speakers go in the rear panels i have the front ones not sure what the rear size is need to sort my sounds out for summer the standard speakers are complete shiteeeeeeeeeeee

Mate 6" will never fit. you would struggle to fit a slim 4" in there. theres no space when you take the panel off...

ohhh ok so can i not upgrade the rear speakers then?

Ive been looking 4 a yr 4 a speaker for the rear. But to be honest its not worth upgrading to a 4" speaker just keep the factory rears for rear fill....
ive just finished ordering my system. fingers crossed the amps should arrive early next week...

the speakers are 13 cm in the back.. and in the font. my car stereo place fitted me 17cm components in the front, but u need to chop some bits away so they fit. but 13 is the biggest u can get behind the grills in the back, unless u put them in 'pods' or something

Nah mate everyone is running 6.5" comps up front now!!!! not much work involved at all and with 5.25" comps you should never need to do any chopping...

you are correct bro! every e46 bmw that i have done to date has had or will have pretty soon, a set of 17 comps.
as for the rears the focal polyglass slim range in 51'4 inch has always won my vote.
a very clean rounded sound and they have less than 2 inch mounting depth so they would be ideal.

in response to the earlier question about the headrests, they do come out, BUT are a btch to come out. you have to be very patient with them.

ahhhhhh i'm gonna go hardcore and fit the screens with the headrests in there not that hard :-)

i'l have a butcher at the rear speakers when i fit the carbon arm rest things and see what i can get in there :D
