I have just fitted new 4 pot calipers all round and the pedal needs to be pushed alot further and feels more spongey, will this change when they are bedded in or is there anything I can do to improve the pedal feel so it travels less distance as is firmer. I have SS brake lines fitted. Thanks

Do you know if they were bled properly?

Told there was no air as they took it for a spin and re bled to check. It is a friends garage, so take his word :) he wasn't impressed but said see if it gets better over the next couple of days.

If their spongey then there has to be air in there, maybee there`s a leak somewhere. Have you checked the reservoir to see if its lost any fluid ?

Took it back to my friends garage and they are going to check in the morning :) but thought I would run it past you all :) and when I say he wasn't impressed I ment he also wasn't happy with the feel of the pedal and not because I took it back :)
This is completely normal, you get this even if you just change to new discs and pads for example. It is actually just the discs and pads bedding in properly. Give it a few days or so and you should feel them getting better and better. I thought the same when I went to my AP's. Thought it may be because of the bigger calipers and the master cylinder not being up to the job, but again, after a few days they were fine. The pedal is exactly as it was before apart from the fact the car stops sooo much better...:D
If memory serves me, when Fas upgraded to my old 330 calipers, discs and pads (which were all used), he had excatly the same thing. They soon started to work a treat though...

I guess it must be different with different set ups ? My 6 pots were fine from the off, I just had to block the cooling ducts, acc. to "race" speeds and brake hard without stopping completely 8 times, then leave the car rest for half an hour and unblock the cooling ducts.

Thanks Raj, I was hoping that would be the case  now to bed them in which sounds fun after reading what is required :D just need a long stretch of empty road ;)

Your memory is failing old man :D
When I upgraded to the 330 setup, the problem I had was that the pads weren't biting into the discs, there was no spongyness in the pedal.
The same happened when I went BBK, no bite certainly no spongyness (that i can recall anyway)

Steve, they should only have a little more travel in them than normal, not a lot. This should go after only 3 days like the Rajmeister said.
If they are spongy then everything should be checked and maybe re bled. I'm assuming there all fitted the right way up with the bleed nipples at the top. (Mine were fitted upside down :o )
Whatever you do don't force the pedal to make it better, 4 and 6 pots don't like the force if there is a little air in the syatem as you can pop the tiny seals.
Give it a few days and do a proper re-bleed 2 man jobbie.
Don't worry it'll be sorted :)

BBKs will take time to settle down to their best. Took me 2 re-bleeds to get the pedal feel right, but once it's sorted, it's well sorted.
