Going out in style

Me and my girlfriend have been invited to a huge RAF meal, to whom which alot of high ranking people will be there. It isnt on a base, it is at the RAF Restaurant / night club / Hotel in central london.

There will be valet parking. I have been talking to some of the other guys who went last year and they said there is alot of flashy cars and limos attend this. I have just booked a hotel room so we can drive in and escape my girlfriend screaming at any limo driver to pull over beause she has seen a shop as i will be driving ;) :D

Now I will have my 316 back on said date so Put yourself in my position. I have a choice of said cars to take, Which one would you pick to go. Baring in mind i want to turn up in style like others.

1 - My 316
2 - my gf's 98' A3 coupe
3 - mothers - 95' 318Is
4 - Dads - 01' 325 vert'
5 - Grandads 56' 630i sport.
6 - Hire an exotic (such as a boxter or standard 911 which ever i can get insurance for)

I was thinking the same. But then i had reservations of would i look too flashy in a 6. I do love the 6 but i dont want to appear like a pratt infront of these guys and them thinking im a stuck up.....

why do you need to be flashy anyway ? just go with your car and be proud of it , they should like you for who you are :D , but please don't wear the ears:D

Turn up in anything too nice and they will think you are either:

1) Trying to be a flash git
2) Earning too much at a lower rank so don't need promoting
3) Arse licking. There is nothing wrong with brown nosing as long as you are not perceived to be doing it too overtly.

Personally take either yours or the GFs and give it a bloody good clean (inside and out) - and if you are feeling really anal - make sure you clean the wheels and any chrome 5 mins before you turn up.

I can think of nothing worse than when asked "is that your car?" and having to either lie or explain... if you lie and say "yes", you will get found out and I'm pretty sure you will get bored of explaining that you bored it etc, sadly people will think you are showing off in my opinion.

I actually think that you have an ace car anyway, perfect for the job. Get it clean and it will do you proud.

Also, it can be an experience driving in London, best doing it in your own car me thinks. Enjoy the night, it sounds cool.

Anyone questions you on the 6, just say what 6. Oh that is what it was, and a BMW - did not notice - I only bought it as it matched the colour of my new Rarri 599 and I thought they would look nice parked side by side next to the fountian outside my country home.

I have decided i am going to be taking dads vert. It will be the last time i get to drive it due to him trading it in for a E46 M3 the day after i get back.
