i have the nav with the tv, and since i got the car it seems to have a mind of its own. there will be times when it wont work - i get the "searching hold on one moment" message.... i know when its not working as i dont get the green TMC at the bottom of the screen. When i want to go round to the shops it works and when i want to check the traffic info on the way to or from work it dosent work! id say it works only 35% of the time. the tv and cd and radio all always work....anyone else had this?

mine messes up 24.7 mate.
Wrong directions, ages to do detours, TMC leads me to traffic, its shite.
Also sometime the screen flickers , switches off then comes back on after 5 seconds, (hasnt dont that for a while)

One of the reasons why I did not retrofitting a BMW Nav into my car. U have the monitor and TV but I use a portable NAV. Means you can plan all your routes at home and store it before you get into the car and you can use it in a rental car overseas as well. :D

I have a 325Ci with OEM nav and a 318Ci with a Garmin unit (previously had a TomTom). Never really had a problem with the OEM nav, prefer it much more than installing the portable nav and then having to remove all trace in our 318Ci. The mapping is the same on the BMW nav and the Garmin nav (Navteq) so no difference in the routes it takes - and Navteq mapping is generally considered to be much better than the TeleAtlas maps in a TomTom.
LEESY, sounds like yours definitely has a problem if you are getting that searching message all the time - what navigation computer do you have? I've never seen that message on my old mk3 or my new mk4 computer.

im not sure which computer it is but i had the software updated and now run a copy dvd which lets me view in 3d isometric and also shows me speed cameras etc...its 2007 version software, i needed to update it with an install disk before i could use the new dvd. i had the same problems before upgrading to the hooky eblag software....
yep, best bet to check which firmware version your using (settings menu -> top right corner).. and update it with the latest one..

Some nav units don't like certain writeable DVD/CD media, and would display the exact message you are seeing. I'd try and reburn the DVD at a slower speed or something. The fact that the TMC disappears makes complete sense in this scenario as well.
