Hi guys!

Is there any way to try and get more power from my 318CI 1.9L 4 cyl engine. I already have an exhaust and induction. K&N which I feel is CRAP - Need a CAI. It feels too sluggish but can't afford to sell up and go for a 325 or 330 if you know what I mean?

This might sound daft but is it possible to supercharge a 318 or am I being totally stupid? lol

Any advice would be appreciated.

Cheers.

Chris

yea and would be a good project if its not the valvetronic one, thats not possible yet.

But the money you would spend its cheaper to upgrade car, in relation to power gain.

if you have the N42 valvetronic engine, which sounds like you do, then supercharging is not really a viable option.
A proper CAI and re map will help, apart from that not much else can be done for a sensible budget .

As far as i'm aware I have the M43 engine as it is pre-facelift - April 2001 model. If I do have the M43, is there one available for this one?

Not really worth SC'ing a 318. But if you have the money for an SC kit then its probably worth just trading for a 325/330. Like everyones said theres not much you can do for sensible prices.

Not a power upgrade but you ever thought of shedding weight from the car ?

Ie strip the whole car, take the spare wheel and toolkit out and carpets , get some ltw alloys and sticky tyres. Upgrade the brakes and suspension and it will feel like a whole new beast !

Unless its your daily driver. Which in that case you have to stratagize as to what you can live with and without when stripping..

on a 318 no point S/C better just to upgrade the car as others have said .

you could of course opt for a turbo kit ( same as the car we had featured couple months ago in PBMW magazine) , approx £3750 all in

thanks
