Hi guys, I just thought I'd introduce myself. I'm new here, my name's Will and I currently reside in Southend. I don't own a BMW yet but very soon will. I'm currently looking for a 328ci of about 1999-2000. I'm hoping to spend about 10 grand although i've only just started looking really.
I saw a nice car in silver today with clear lenses and some sorta cross-spoke alloys (18" i think). It was beautiful but i really want leather to be honest and it didnt have it. :( The price was nice though @£8995. Maybe I should take it and have it reuphostered. What do you think?

Also, I was wondering, this car had 78000 miles on it, would you consider that too high or do these cars hold up well to high mileage?

Will..

Welcome mate :)

Leather reupholstering can be done for anything between 799 - 1299. Try and find one with leather, unless u wanna pay that

Mileage is not a problem as long as its been serviced properly, with proper parts and regularly i.e on time. I just bought my 1st e46 a 2002 51 reg 318ci 2 months back, it was on 89k - runs just fine!

As for that year you looking at, be weary of rear subframe damage. Some of the guys on here will be able to embelish more

Enjoy the site and be preparid to get bankprut once you get ur car as we tempt u into MODDING!!;)

Whatever you do, take your time. There are tons of E46s out there now with very good prices. You should be a ble to find one with the options you want.

yea jamie pretty much covered it. If you want to see the potential of a 328ci check out westsides old ride. If you havent seen it in PBMW already ;).

SE model is a good one to look out for since it comes with mfsw (multi function steering wheel) and parking sensors along with some other goodies. Just try and look out for options such as bi-xenons and memory seats/mirror are also cool.

As for ali's point on the next meet... southend isnt toooo far. Pop down :D

o and welcome to the board man [cool

Welcome Will:) E46, in a good way, is pretty common so it's only a matter of time before u find a good one with loads of spec. With E90 realsed, I'm sure the price for E46 will go down quicker as well. still, it's not a cheap car but I used to drive plenty of bad cars previously (like a Montego and Rover 620) so u can imagine I am well pleased with e46 :D what's your current ride?

hi ya welcome yeah i maxed my 328 to the max

the 328 is indeed a great car watch out for lower arm bushs going costs about 100 to put right inc labour (from me lol) the rear subframe bushes do a search and you find pots on that hold out you rget a good spec my ol done had

xenon headlights
pdc
cruise control
harmon hardon
electric heated memeory seats
rain senastive wipers
multi function sterring wheel
leather sport seats

so there are well specced ones out there i brought mine with 36k had it for just over a year and sold it 38k there brillant engines and really nice cars to drive

modding wise i could empty your wallent in around 1 hour lol

millage is not a issue with theses cars and nor is the dreaded niskali a issue with theses engine so buy in confidence, any rattles or bumps from th eback could be worn top mounts easy to do, rear trailing arm bushes you need apress to fit new ones or a mashed up diffmount if its the later walk away unless you like taking out diffes and welding if so buy a bargin it and fix it i would :-)

enjoy the site and enjoy sleepless night of modding maddness

Well guys, I am truly humbled! Thanks for the quality welcome :)

It's good to get some pointers from you fellas about what to look out for etc, everything helps here.

Stock323iSaloon : My current car is (don't laugh) a 1998 Passat V6 Syncro/Tip. This car has been so good to me and never really missed a beat, but i am changing to E46 because the VW is a bit too, well... sensible i guess, lol :)

Now as regards the meet, I would love to go and if it was Saturday I could've made it, but Sunday just isn't possible. Shame that I can't go, but in one way it's also a good thing, because once I see everyones sorted cars it'll probably make all the ones I view at showrooms look terrible.!

Thanks once again fellas ;)

(soon to be skint) Will.

Will - Welcome [hiya
I joined about a week ago and as a fellow newbie can assure that this is a great site with a great team & it took at least 48 hrs for my wallet to start its new diet !
Take your time on finding the car as Nick said, there's a lot out there, so get the one you really want with the right spec. Personally, I would suggest get one with leather. :)
It took me 3 months to find mine (E46 330 Clubsport) but it was worth the wait !

Welcome Will.

As a '00 328Ci owner, I, as everyone else has suggested, would say hold off for the right one. There are plenty of them out there and some more cared for than others. I purchased mine 6 months ago with lots of options that had been ticked by the previous owner. I went and saw a fair few before finding my current pride and joy.

The right one is out there, just be patient.
