Hi,

Does anyone know where i can buy a old number plate from? One which is old enough so that it can legally be put on a car in black and silver?

It can't legally be put onto a car just because the plate is old, it's the car's age that determines whether it can legitimately wear a black plate.

Yep it is pre-1973 cars that can have them only. I've got a 1971 Ford Escort with black plates which are legal. ;)

o i thought as long as i bought an actual old plate pre 1978 it would be legal.

Nope, unfortunately it is age of car and not age of plate (although 1978 would be too young anyway). :(

If you ask me black plates on new cars don't look right anyway.

if you go with these plates you will just get pulled all the time m8...........and if you have private plates and you get pulled more than 3 times say bye bye to your plates as well as loads of poo poo!!

i have had this on my car now for 4 months and not been pulled yet although when i do its a fair cop guve i got mine off ebay

unnecessary attention from police + would-be haters, so i don't think it's worth it. i saw a black Cooper S with black plates get pulled over on Sunday by Waterloo. not sure what it was for but good chance it was for plates. he also had tints so you might be in for multiple tickets. v embarassing especially if u have your mates/girlfriend with you

same happen to my mate

got pulled after year with those plates on and at the same time got done for tints.

not worth it. some coppers ned 1 reason to pull you and then the list gets bigger.

not saying all coppers are like that :) but some are
