View Full Version : When to sell??
The time has finally arrived when i can get myself a lovely e46 M3 but i'm not sure when to buy one!!! My problem is i have a 330 sport vert to sell!!! I have 2 options to consider!!
1) Sell my vert now saving myself a hit before the new one comes out in march and just buy the M3!!!
2) Wait till the new M3 comes out (not sure when that is) and then sell the vert and save a bit on the M3!!!
I dont really want to sell the vert and buy a run around until the new m3 come out, to much hastlefor me!!!
Basiclly what option will save me the most money or is it gonna be a case of it not making much of a difference??? I'm busting to get my M3 but not if its gonna cost me a fortune in resale value in the long run!!!!
Thanks In Advance :)

ide personally wait as youl save your self loads of £££.
If you can hang about for abit - the M3's will eventually plumet in price i will think!
just make sure you time it right 2 get rid of your 330 (i say now is the right time) so your vert doesnt drop price big style in £££ too.

Your vert will already have taken a hit with the launch of the E92's in general even though the vert's aren't on the road at the moment but a major factor to consider is the time of year. Who pays top dollar for a vert in winter? winter is great if you want to buy a used car, they're worth nothing but obviously if you're the seller the shoe is on the other foot so it'd be financial suicide :)

According to analysts, this year will be the hottest on record. Sit tight until the spring, wait until the first fingers of warmth come filtering through and sell on what will be a stronger time of year for verts

Are you looking to buy a vert M3? If so then buy now, if you want a coupe, sell your vert in June and buy the M3 coupe then.
Thanks for the advice guys, very helpfull as usual!!:)
Only decision left to make is Vert Or Coupe!!! Loved my Vert in the summer, really enjoyed driving it especially at night but its noisy with the roof up and she has a few squeaks!! Is there such a thing as a quiet Vert???? I've Never owned the hardtop, does that make a big difference??
Coupe is favourite at the minute because of weight, price and Nick & Matts Ring Video
Thanks again :)

Sqweaks and noise are just part of the experince :D , but if I was going to buy an M3 I would go for the coupe because its a perfromance car and it performs better than the vert :D

Anyways back to the subject wait untill the "season" for selling verts starts up again. I had a vert e46 and when the time came for the M3 I went coupe just cos otherwise it was exactly the same. I personally prefer the way the coupe handles and I also like the fact that there are hardly any squeeks as the roof on the vert does get anoying after a while.
Looks like i'll be getting a coupe in March/April then!!! Its what i was leaning towards with the weight and the fact its for performance rather than style!!! I can get my guitar case in the boot of a coupe too and it wont fit in the vert!!!! If thats not a reason to buy an M3 then i dont know what is!!!!:D
Cheers My Dears!!!!:)

is this when the vinyl roof is up or down? Does the hard top roof make any difference to sound noise etc? just interested, as I've never had a vert.

Squeaks from the roof? Must be a different kind of vert, when I bought mine I took my car out for a test drive and the one I bought didn't have any rattles or squeaks at all. ;) (Still like it, btw, it's about maintenance and care, not about body shell)
Tin, the hardtop does make a big difference to road noise when you go from the vinyl roof to the turtleshell, but you only notice it then, the vinyl roof is pretty darn good as it is and you do only notice it back-to-back as it were. Next time you're about, take it for a drive, see how it compares to yours.
