Dude, just remove your original airbox, stick your MAF sensor housing (the one which the wire plugs into) into the blue coupling and fasten the other end back onto your inlet manifold air duct.

Just use your imagination. It's REALLY that straight forward!

where does it say u have to drill holes? I thought u only had to screw on the holding bracket (black metal bar thingy) onto the strut tower area [hmm

InvIs Inc

does it go onto the top of the strut tower  .......... thats what i couldnt figure out, it looks like it wanted it onto the side of the strut tower. are u sure?

from the pics I've seen, i thought the black bar thing clamps onto the side of the strut tower, not top of. FYI, for my pipercross kit, i screwed the bar thingy onto the screw hole left by the oem air box:) I'm sure you'll sort this out soon and it's def not worth paying someone else to fit it!

yea dude ive never heard of any drilling invovled in fitting a CAI [hmm. Though it was simply removing the oem filter and screwing in the new one.

well i had a good look in the engine bay this is not as straight forward as u would think!!! for some reason the barcket is designed to be hooked to the strut tower :( so i will have 2 have it drilled. the bracket is to short and the wrong shape to go anywhere even close to the other holdings for the oem air filter or the top of the strut tower... i am really getting pissed off with this now! it should be straight forward.

some pics but taken on my phone so i dunno if u can see what i am going on about.

Interesting. I actually have a mounting point where that bracket should go on the strut tower. Not sure what production year your car is, but you're certainly missing something. I'll take a pic of my engine bay tomorrow to show you.

looking at the pic, i think u can loosen the jubilee ring and pivot/swing the metal bracket and position it so that it screws onto the red circle:) give it a try!

Could he have it the wrong way up or something? Or is that not possible? Just a thought anyway..

ok after further investagation on e46 fanatics  This support brackets seems optional. Also they reckons its pretty useless since it secure without it.

this might help with the install though man: http://www.renn-sport.net/DIY/GruppeM/e46.htm

*edit* i read sumwhere it does go onto the strut tower so i assume it goes where Fas was on about. Another thing i read is its for japenese spec cars mainly.

No need to swivel anything around. It's not what it's designed for. You're missing a screw point. Not the greatest pic but it'll do for know, you can see the bracket on my CAI bolted to the Strut tower.

However, as Afif has already mentioned, a lot of guys have not needed the bracket. The friction fit is fine in the majority of cases. IF you have a lot of movement, then get the bracket sorted, it's not difficult to fabricate one yourself.

cool good luck with it man. Try it without the bracket. You never know till you try ;). The fact that SO many on e46 dont use the bracket must mean its pretty sturdy without it :).
