Firstly im new here so Hi all.
got my e46 a coupleof weeks back and am loving it.
I have heard lots of people mentioning the factory setup having a seperate amp from the HU , do they all have this or is it just the HK systema that has one.
reason i ask is im wantin to add an amp and sub to beaf up the bass then tune someof it out of the main speakers for improved SQ. Although i have a decnt enough HU kicing around from my last car bmw seem to have made removing the Hu a right royal pain by the looks of dash so id rather not rip the dash apart,
also if i stay wiht the oem HU how much juice is it worth throwing at a sub(s) befor im just going drown out the mid/treble.
thanks

Removing the standard BMW headunit is very simply mate and takes about 2mins to do.

Also I dont think it is worth getting the sub and amp if you are going to run the OEM headunit, you need aftermarket to make use of those toys

Yeah you remove the trim above the stereo then remove two bolts and out it comes.

You dont even need to remove that piece just take it off from the side which is closest to the stereo.
