I want to get my Z4 remapped in the new year some time but I am finding the number of owners who have done it are limited therefore feedback is limited too, so, anyone on here had the 3.0i lump in whatever car they have remapped..??, if so tell me all about it..:p

The DMS advert quotes the E46 330i at 265 hp ;)

Is yours the 231bhp or the 260bhp lump? I find typical quotes of increased economy are pretty much bullSh*t, and are quoted on the basis of "if you accelerate at the same rate prior to the chip/remap, only then will you get beter economy". Flat spots do seem better resolved, though.

I had mine done recently, and the difference is really noticeable.Gets rid of the flatspots, midrange is totally different and now slightly better fuel economy as well.

Guys you know I rarely question or critisise other companies ' claims etc,but having recently delved even deeper into the world of mapping and how it all works etc by virtue of the work we have carried out on the M3, I just find these kind of claims "hard to believe" and irresponsible at the least.

The 330 is quoted from the factory at 231 bhp, wihch means about 220 "real life ". To quote 265 bhp is then an increase of 17% !!!! just from fuel and ignition....COME ON !! Do they think we are all stupid ?

Seems to me people are getting duped into paying well over the odds just on a spurious and unverified claim of increased power. We claim about 15 bhp for this remap , I dont care how good you a sotware guru you are there is NO WAY you can safely ( or at all) extract another 20 - 30 bhp on top of that by remapping !!! It just does not add up and I personally think some kind of regulatory body needs to be set up to put a stop to this kind of c..p.

rant over ....:o

Your absolutely right Roy and it`s my fault for posting a load of dribble I spoke to the guy today and the figures sre 253hp not 265 hp for the 3.0i :o

But I`ve just checked the add again and it says 260 hp + de limit.

you did not post dribble at all Mike, end of the day you only had their figures to go on.

Strange how they quote yoiu 265, then 253 then 260 ...you see my point ? :)

I doubt even 253 bhp as again this is about +10% !

Dont get me wrong, in my opinion it is always worth having a remap, if only for the smoother power delivery and elimination of flat spots and top speed limiter....look on the extra bhp as an added bonus, thats how I usually explain the remap issue to prospective customers.

best of luck

i spoke to DMS about the claims of 260bhp for my car, I think the guys name was Mike Cooper, anyway, I asked the question how come you get this power and other tuners can only extract 15-17 bhp from a map ??, his reply was;

"There's tuners and there's tuners, it's the way our map manipulates the vanos that gets the power"

And he wants £700 to do it, so it don't matter what he's claiming I ain't paying that amount of money for it when perfectly reputable tuners are offering gains worth having for the £200-£250 mark

I see in your signature who did your map, where are they, how much and what are the 'claimed' gains against what you have achived ?

It's true that careful adjustments to the vanos can gain extra flexibility and some power....but not THAT much.

Vanos is a Rolls Royce patented device designed primarily to reduce emissions for the US market as well as spread the power curve.
