Just wondering guys is it best to go for pro kit or sportline springs on a e46 coupe 318.
Thanks for your advice

The Sportline drops the front a bit more, giving a more aggressive stance. Harder ride too but still able to live with. The Pro-Kit rides very similarly to stock M-Tech springs but drops both front and rear another 10-15mm.
yea thats 10-15mm ontop of the mtech springs which are already 10-15mm lower than the normal bmw springs unless im mistaken.

You should still be able to get across speed bumps without any major problems. May have to slow right down with some of the more vicious ones.

Yep, for the E46 M3, you can only get the Pro-Kit. If you want the front to go lower with just springs, try H&R Race ;)

How much lower are they Nick, than pro kit?

H&R Race............I recommend you upgrade the shocks too. H&R Race will wear out your stock shocks quicker.

Ray, I would stick to the Pro-Kit. You can't go wrong with them ;) . Remember your vert will drop more than a coupe because it's heavier so the Pro-Kit will look spot on.
Have a look at Durgesh's vert, he is using my old Sportline springs from the coupe, note how much more the rear drops ;)

It's really subjective quoting how many mm your car will drop with which springs, I'm new school and I go by pics (hence, I have an archive of them ;) )
Get the Pro-Kit

am i getting the general jist that if you have a normal e46 either coupe or vert then go sportline, but if e46 M3 then jus prokit.
cheers guys

You can only get Pro-Kit for the M3. Officially there's not Sportline for the e46 vert but you can use coupe Spotline and get a very aggressive drop (see Durgesh's car). For the non-M coupe, Pro-Kit and Sportline are just as good, it's down to preference whether you want more front drop or not (Sportline if yes).
Quick correction, H&R doesn't do Race springs for the M3, just Sport springs.
Alternatively, there's a set of OEM CSL springs and dampers up for sale ;)

Durgesh's car when the Type 3s were still on was rubbing like mad at the rear. The Type 3s are 8.5J wide ET 34. He was using 255/35 rear tyres. If you want your suspension to be really stiff you need to go coilover route. But watch your rear subframe.

rear subframe????? huh

On earlier cars, namely 323 and 328 coupes built between 1999-2000 have a tendency to crack where the rear suspension unit joins onto the chassis (rear subframe). More susceptible if you run very hard suspension, or just upgrade your springs on knackered shocks.
Read all about it here (http://forum.e46fanatics.com/search.php?searchid=1159938)

If you run too hard a spring with crappy shocks that are unable to buffer the rebound, you'll have a higher chance of damaging the underneath of your chassis where the rear suspension bolts onto. If that happens, you need a weld job but it's a job that involves extensive labour. This applies to coupes that are built between 1999-2000 but not later cars as BMW has realized the problem and has re-inforced the subframe on later cars.
This is what happens.....

Not saying that this is going to happen to you but just a caution when you slap on ultra stiff springs and not upgrading the rest of the chassis. That's why Eibach Pro-Kit is the best compromise. Gives you the drop but also very forgiving.

stock 323 fitting boge or eibach springs should be a problem i have fitted loads of e46 with the boge setup on the m52 with no problem its just personal choice.
I have fiited my vert with the pro kit i didn't want a huge drop as my splitter woul dget mashed its just right at the moment i'll post some pics up when i get my new rim son this weekend :-)
let me know when your ready to rock in terms of slamming your car.

444Ray: I bought the Eibach pro kit for my M3. They sent me the wrong set. They were for a 330d. They didn't fit the M3 top mount. Only the specific M3 coupe or M3 vert ones will fit.
