My serice is way due, its nearly hitting the 70,000 mark now and the book is stamped up all by BMW since new. Shall i bother paying BMW £250 for insp1 when my indipendant BMW specialist can do it for £120 all in (and hes using decent oil) ? ?

Your thourghts would be much apprecieated.

Will Juber lose hundreds of pounds in re-sale value from not having 100% dealer service history?

Juber, how old is your car? if it's more than 4-5 years old, I don't think it's worth spending 2x on dealer services as the extra u save won't be reflected fully in your resale value. FYI, BMW servicing only gets paid 30/hour for their work. Other 70-90/hour gets pocketed by the dealership. shocking

You sure your service is £250 from BMW? Your car should be able to be serviced under the "4 plus" scheme for cars 4 years or older. Fixed price servicing and very competitive. Phone up and check if you haven't done so already, but make sure YOU mention 4-plus otherwise you'll be on the normal price pack

£30/hour for a tech is amazing pay but i doubt its that high at all. works out to £60k

i dont really have a problem with their labour rates considering your paying for all the courtesy car, the location and coffe etc. what bothers me is that they charge us 2 hours labour to change some brake pads when its really 45mins.

u can, just tell them you will insure it youself. then call up your insurance compnay tell them your getting a courtesy car for 2 days and they cover you for free or v cheap (tell them to fax confirmation to the dealer).

btw just thought id mention to you bmw lovers the great service mercedes benz do. im sure you guys have heard of mobilo life. basically if you got a merc made after 2001 and it breaks down with 30 years  or has a problem, mercedes will pick it up and give you an equivalent hire car immediatly. no age restrictions lol.

my headlights were pointing low last week, i called the freephone number, they took my car and gave me a hire car immediately, e-class (hence i was in a nice goldy shade e class at the xmas meet).

I want a slk even quicker know!!1 thats customer serivce!!! my cars back in with bmw and they said i wont have the car till friday, it helps knowin a few people at bmw who provide a great serivce but if the company they work for are W*@## not much they can do as bmw expect you to book in with a problem 3 weeks in advance to get a courtesy car so like me if you got a leeky boot, to get a courtesy car you have to wait and by then the boot is flooded!!

rant over lol

no, the garage side of the business gets 30/hour. the actual mechanic gets a lot less. I wonder how much BMW service guys get but I doubt it's anywhere near 25k. all the facilities u mention must come from the other 70-90 quid/hour that they make.

I have pleasure in providing the requested quotation for an Inspection 1 service.
The price is £239.00 inc vat, this also includes the discount we offer to all vehicles over 4 years old.

Please also note that we operate a "Price Match" scheme, which means if you are offered a lower price for this service from any other BMW dealer & can provide a written estimate, we will match that price.

Many thanks

My cars a 02 plate - so im eligible to this discount scheme.
BMw said that most people tend to Drift away from BMW service history after 60,000 miles.
