Honda makes fantastic engines but the built quality is very questionable. Nevertheless Type R is one of the best FF cars money can buy and they are so tunable. Still a Civic though.

standard BHP on Typr R is about 190-200bhp, Japanese engines are very easy to tune, a bit of engine management change, filter and exhaust will give out an extra 20-30 BHP so your friend is probably not BSing. The car is superlight as well which makes it real fast too.

Don't even think about importing a car direct from Japan if you don't have any contact there who can get you a car real cheap with all traceable histories. Better find an agent here who does grey import but personally I wouldn't do it.

If you want a 1/4mile 12 second car this is a good base model to start with.

I love the Type R. Drives like a treat everytime. Anyone who tells you FWD....blah blah is simply biased. Best short shift I've ever tried [cool

Better still, tuning potential is IMMENSE!! :D :D We need a Jap rocket on EvoTechnik ;)

i got respect for type - r's definately. The best thing is the look pretty good even from factory not to mention there well fast :D.

Also teddy that 69.95 thing is more a cold air intake than supercharger id say :p

Had a Honda Integra Type R before, add a good induction kit (HKS, DC Sports or AEM) and the sound it makes when the vtec cuts in is real addictive! [cool

The engines last forever, if well serviced and Type R's need very regular oil changes. The body can be a little tinny (is that a word [hmm ) though.

Go for it [cool it'll be fun to drive if thats what you're looking for [ok

Try www.litimports.co.uk, speak to Iain Litchfield, I looked into this option when I was going to change my Integra Type R (DC2) to a new Integra Type R (DC5).
