Hi there, im new to this forum and im looking for a E46! Id like to say hello to everybody (ive come from uk-mkivs.net).

Im looking for a 318Ci sport convertible. Im finding it hard to find one with xenons. I have them on my PD Golf and wouldnt want my next car without them.

So i was wondering how hard it is to retrofit them. i know you can buy conversion kits, but are these any good. The car will be the facelift model, so will have the projector style lights.

Or can i buy the actual headlights, i know they are expensive from the dealers, but was thinking of trying a scrappy. Look forward to responses.

PS, anybody know of a 318ci sport convertible for sale 53 onwards, black with leather please let me know.

If you're going for a facelift model, the conversion could not be easier as you already have the projector lamps ;) All you need is a HID kit which can be bought from Roy at www.ca-automotive.co.uk (check out our forum sponsor), as long as you get the correct bulb fit (Roy will sort that out for you), it's all plug and play with only a few fiddle to mount the xenon ballasts etc.

Check out www.h-i-d.co.uk (Roy's site too)

The British transport law stipulates that you need self levelling headlamps and headlamp washers in order to pass MOT. The beauty of the facelift models is that you can remove the HID bulb and put back your original bulb in just a few minutes in time for the MOT testing.

Oh......WELCOME!! [hiya

Yes, it will looks as OEM as you wish but many of us tend to go for the higher Kelvin bulbs. They give out crispier blue-ish light than the stock ones. Much more classy. Stock ones are 4300K, the best is 6000K. If you go any higher, you lose illumination. I'm using Teddy's 8000K bulbs on my car presently, very pretty but good enough for town driving. If you do a lot of night driving in poorly lit streets, you might want to stick with 4300K.

My old Philips Ultinon 6000K bulbs

So, i buy the retrofit kit from ca automotive, then buy the 8000k bulbs from ssdd? See i have already upgraded my VW bulbs to the 8000k bulbs, so really i should be able to take these out and put them in the retrofit in the bmw right?

Peppernick, did you change your sidelight bulbs too? they look pretty white aswell!

Or you can just buy the kit with the 7500k/8000K bulbs. Yes my indicator bulbs are from Teddy, they are the silver coated halogen bulbs. VW bulbs may not be the same as your BMW bulb, have to check.
