View Full Version : Had an accident this morning - Be careful everyone

Horrible morning, I've had today.
On my merry way to work and an idiot pulled out the side road and went into the side of my M3 :( I could see it happening in slow motion and even swerved to avoid him yet it was almost as if he was aiming for me... Not pics just yet, but so gutted, to say the least.
Got his insurance details and have passed to my insurance company - hopefully it will come back as new. Seems most of the damage is inflicted to the passenger door - sills/skirts got away scot-free fortunately.
Just wanted to post up, get it off my chest and also to encourage everyone here to be really careful. December - is a very busy month with the festivities around the corner and there are so many people driving stupid/under the influence/shopping with no care in the world.
Defensive driving guys - don't automatically assume people have a brain.
Cheers,
Raj

Sorry to hear you suffered a Festive Fck-up, Raj. Don't spare the rod on the repairers, make sure they appreciate the level of detail you put into that car and that you get a 100% job done on it, espcially as it's someone else's fault and off their insurance. Ask Paul for some tips on getting a nice loaner to rag in the meantime aswell. ;)

Raj, totally gutted for you mate :( . Find out who the third party is insured with and TELL them you want a like for like courtesy car. You have been wronged and the legally the third party must ensure that you are put back to the position you was in pre accident, this also extends to the courtesy car if you so wish. I used performance car hire (http://www.performancecarhire.co.uk/) as this was the preferred hire company for the third party insurer. Other companies may use Swift (http://www.swift-rent-a-car.co.uk/about.asp (I think)). Either way don't accept the loan clio/micra, get that M3 and enjoy your week of free tyres ;) .
If you have any questions then ask away mate. Hope this is resolved asap.
The main thing is that you didn't get hurt mate.

Gutted for you both and hope it gets sorted quickly and easily :( This is the major thing that p*sses me off about britains roads. I'm surprised my cars lasted as long as it has with the amount of idiots out there. I get so frustrated because of the amount of sh*t young drivers have to go through to get their licence where testers screw them over for anything they possibly can because they stereotype them yet there are other tossers out there that don't even know what lane to be in on a roundabout. I mean come on FFS! Some young drivers admittedly are a nightmare screaming round like tools but I'll give them one thing, at least they know what they're doing is wrong and so they'll at least try and be on their toes to react in situations if even they don't have the experience but don't you think its even worse when you get drivers who have years of experience that're completely oblivious to what they're doing that cannot understand why you're flashing and beeping at them?! It's just stupidly dangerous and pathetic. I mean how easily could rajas accident have been avoided if they just used the little sponge-like thing in their heads... I can honestly hand on heart say everytime I make a journey (bar on the way to work because its B roads which are not too bad) but any town driving etc, you're guarantee'd for some prick to cut you up or try writing you off, sometimes I wonder if it's deliberate! I even go as far as to avoid going into roundabouts next to someone wherever I can because they always cut from the left lane into the right lane and back again without looking or thinking twice about it. Anyways, rant over but can you tell it annoys me ;)
Keep safe guys and I hope noone else has any problems like this and as mentioned, watch out at this time of year with drink, you all know why :( Especially taxi drivers... you wouldn't believe how many were caught drink driving rod here last year its f*cking pathetic

My condolences Raj all the way from Toronto...I think you handled that pretty well, because I'm sure the outcome would have been different if it were some other hothead...but nonetheless good luck with the quick fix, and you can add a new M door on your xmas present list...:)

Sorry to hear that, i had a simular accident the other side of xmas - january this year, van pulled out on me, dont know how i got away with just wing damage on the E36, thought they had done the whole side!
Anyway, milk the insurance :) make them pay for pissing you off and ruining your car.

tell you what.. It could be worse mate at least ou've got insurance details so it can all be fixed. When I had my escort (yes I know its not the same value as a BMW but it did have full wide arches and a custom respray etc) Some tit in a tranny van (no livery though) slammed into the side of me crushing me between his van and a parked saab. The guy didn't even stop he just f*cked off and left me with the damage to sort myself and the lovely news of informing the saab owner, luckily the saab buffed up with no work needed, the escort however... wasn't in such a good way :(
Like has been mentioned, if insurance claims are being made it might aswell be done in style with a REAL courtesy car. Where is the courtesy in giving someone a screwed micra ffs? Give 'em hell fella :D

Thanks for all the kind words guys - I hope my message of being careful has remained...
The car is lovely, albeit a little gutless [de-tuned?]...

It's got a digital TV tuner, a nice new MAF and interior trim that just happen to match mine.....;)
Will post up some pics in the daylight tomorrow. Something that the car has gone to confirm: My shocks are GONE! They HAVE to be replaced... PSS9 here I come. I hope CA-Automotive are doing some kind of special discount or combo deal with them and Rouge Engineering shock mounts and spacers this Xmas..:) <-*not so subtle hint* lol
