With the pending legislation against laser guns and such devices , I thought I would mention that CA Automotive actually started business many years ago bringing radar detectors , laser jammers etc into the UK , so I consider mysekf a bit of a geek on this stuff .

Please take time to read the details on our site regarding such products on the "stealth " section ; I will be updating the Legal section soon .

Meanwhile , here is my take on the general situation and devices, based on fact and experience , not opinion or conjecture :

- if you like driving fast , then you must have at least a foreward facing laser device and GOOD GPS unit ( like b2 , the best overall device so far in terms of combined features and accuracy )

-FORGET laser DETECTORS , like the units supplied with b2 , Road Angel etc , they are USELESS . As they are a detector only , if they go off all that tells you is that YOU HAVE BEEN LASEREDand most likely nicked . As a laser gun aquires your speed a minimum NINE times a second , you do not have time to react to a laser detector. You must have a laser JAMMER than instantly fires back a 904 nanometre infra red laser that prevents the laser gun aquiring your speed .

- Unless you drive in Europe a lot , forget RADAR DETECTORS , these days they give you more false alarms than useful advance warning of real speedtraps .

- Best laser jammers on market are Traget LT 400 or Lidatek LE 30 because :
1. both essentially same device in different cases
2. both use REAL LASER , not infra red LED s , so they last longer , are more reliable , stronger in daylight conditions and longer range .
invisible if carefully stealthily installed .
3. Balls to the new anti laser legislation because i can sell you a garage door / electric gate transponder to allow these "jammers" to work as remore door openers in conjunction with the laser unit on the car....so how can you get nicked for operating a remote control device .
4. There is another legal argument here ( not fully tested in courts ) that a poice officer using a laser gun to acquire information about you ( your speed) without your consent is in violation of EU privacy laws ; he is aiming a light beam at you to aquire information about you butyou are under no obligation to return that lightbeam to him ..hence the use of the jammer .

The above is the best legal advice I have at this time , but if there are any legal minds out there i would love to hear any feedback and professional opinions .

- anti flash plates ....some of them work some of the time ....worth buying just to get that tiny bit possible extra protection .

- most importantly MAKE SURE YOU SWITCH THE DEVICES ON !
First time I equipped my new M3 with lasers front and rear , miltary- spec k band jammer ( up to 3 years inside if caught apparently ) and gps unit I thought I had become the invisible( and invincible ) man ....'till I got chased down the A3 for about 5 miles by an unmarked scooby ( well..I thought he wanted a race so I kept waiting for him to keep catching me up , then I'd shoot off again ) ...finally got roadblocked at Burpham ..and all 'cos i forgot to turn on my laser jammer !! Boy were the boys in blue pissed at me that day .Well they should have had aproper blue light IMO , not some wanky Max Power looking blue strobe fitted inside the indicator lens ...I didnt know !

So , since then I always wire in these devices so that they come on with the ignition , with cut out switch so you can choose to switch them off .

i dont see the 4th argument working at all :p. Also what about that spray called photoblocker instead of anti flash plates? I see good reviews for it everywhere [hmm but since your the geek ;) whats your opinion?

I agree the 4th one is tenuous at best at first glance , but it is actually backed up by some heavy hitters in the legal world .,..two cases in sweden won on this basis apparently ....must admit cant see the jolluy ol conservative english judge going for it ....let see

Regarding sprays ....I have never seen these work with any graet degree of success , but we are currently trialing a new one called safeplate that seems better than all the rest , will know for sure in 2 weeks

cheers for the input afif

I have LRC 100 on mine which I know is an old model now but it still works an absolute treat. Its saved me many a time, also especially useful for my remote garage doors, lol! I had that fitted with the origin in my old car because at that time you could buy an interface to link the two directly together, that worked well and id recommend it to anyone. The origins certainly better than all the others I have tried! But if I had to choose one or the other, id take the LRC100 because touch wood you can usually spot the fixed cameras, or so ive found!

yes , the LRC is an excellent unit , I still use mine . I would advise you wire the LRC and b2 seperately , that way if one units power supply fails the other unit still works . This is how we always install them .

What is the device that is added to the Lidatek 40 so that your gates/doors can be opened, how much is it and how easy is it to install as I am getting electric gates fitted over the summer and my brother is buliding a new house and he already has the Lrc 100 and it's something he would also be interested in

....This stuff is coming after that :).

Afif, what do you need this stuff for.... [hmm (interpret as you wish...! :p ) jus' kiddin mate...

The cameras in Watford are a joke now... having lived here all my life I know which ones to hide from.... mind you saying, a lot of nice stretches to be putting you foot down, as well as an increase in police patrols most evenings of the week.

Dark blue 3-series, dark blue Skoda Favorit, Silver Saab 9-5 - all unmarked and worth keeping you eyes open for - they stop you - you are definitely done!

Best stretch to try your car, Hunton Bridge dual carriageway, 2-lane, 1/2 mile clear stretch, no cameras, national speed limit...

thanks! I can get from watford to my house in stanmore/belmont in like 5 minutes :D... will definately keep an eye out for those patrols! Where do they usually hang about?

My route back is usually pass tescos ---> past mercedes ---> harley davidson then all the way back up that road till i get to mini roundabout where i take a left to old reading winding road!. Then kenton lane all the way to my house :D. Sometimes i go through stanmore when i want to cruise :p.

Im so going to get done for something one of these days I had 6 passengers my ageish in the car last nite [bang .
